John Hegarty is a music teacher who has been working in Dublin since 2007 developing courses in guitar, bass, piano, ukulele and songwriting. He teaches in with the CDETB and is a member of the Teaching Council of Ireland.

An accomplished arranger and multi-instrumentalist, Hegarty has been working in the Dublin music scene for the last 20 years and has guested on 16 albums playing guitar, piano, bass and organ. Hot Press praised how ‘John Hegarty’s cinematic keyboards bring something special to the mix’ on Barry McCormack’s album Small Mercies and the Independent added a ‘special word for the organ-playing of John Hegarty, which is understated and beguiling’ on Cian Nugent’s critically acclaimed album, Born with the Caul. Hegarty also featured on Adrian Crowley album Season of Sparks which won the Choice Music Prize in 2010.

John Hegarty is a gifted songwriter who has released two albums, Twilight in 2000 and Guiding Light in 2007 which gained glowing reviews from Hot Press, The Irish Times, and the The Irish Daily Star. John Hegarty featured in the first season of Other Voices and his song ‘Limerick’ was featured on the Other Voices: Songs from a Room album.

John Hegarty is presently working on a new solo album, an album with the music collective, Lets Get Lost and a number of new projects with Barry McCormack and Dinah Brand.
