Absolute Beginners Songwriting Lessons is a course for advanced students who have already developed the experience of playing and singing a repertoire of songs. The course explores the many different aspects of writing a song focusing on chords, melody and lyrics. The course can cater for groups or individuals, for further information please contact John.

The student will develop methods to find inspiration for songs, find a good title for a song, develop the narrative, and finesse those lyrics into a coherent message.

Using simple template structures we develop the student’s ability to write songs while focusing on the essential roles of chords, musical keys, melody and rhythm.

The lessons will show students how to structure a song using Verses, Choruses, Middle Eights, Bridges, Intros and Outros by breaking a number of classic songs down to their constituent parts and piecing them back together again.

We will also look at the different ways to arrange a song and each student will be able to take away a demo of a song recorded using Pro Tools software at the end of the course.
